Bailey--No Sale.

So every year we sell all our Hametz (foods that aren't kosher for Passover) to a friend.  Along with all the flour, crackers, cereal, and booze, we sell Bailey's food and Bailey.  Bailey is now on grain-free food, so we don't have to sell her food, or her. Bailey is not for sale!

Isn't she a cutie in that cutie box?

This Year's Choco-Matzoh

On Sunday night I made some chocolate matzoh. I really wanted to make sure the sugar was dissolved, so I boiled it for at least 3 minutes. I used brown sugar and when it cooled it was hard and tasted like toffee. I put half the batch into the fridge to cool and today when I headed into the kitchen Highway to the Danger Zone was playing in my head. That stuff is passover crack. It's so hard to stop eating it. I bought more brown sugar and chocolate chips today. I'll probably make another batch this weekend.

Passover 2010

Our trip to Texas was a bit of a whirlwind tour. We drove down to Austin on Friday to have Passover with Joey and Lisa Diane. Joey did a wonderful job cooking everything. Ross made the matzo balls, which is his job every year. You can see from the photo that he likes to make them into different shapes. We had a good time. The best part was Joey's passover cake. It was awesome and he served it with sliced strawberries. Oh, I'd eat that cake any time of year.

Sweet Dreams

It's only been a couple of days, and last night I was dreaming about cookies and cake. The last couple of years we have gone to Logan's Roadhouse to celebrate the end of Passover. Ah--hot, soft, yeast rolls with lots of butter! I think we'll drive up to York, PA to do that again this year. And I'm going to have to find some cake somewhere too.

Random Things

It finally happened. Someone recognized me in the grocery store. She asked if I used to work at Maryland General. I knew she looked familiar, but I thought I was just imagining it. I didn't tell her my name so I wonder if she thinks I'm Brown, or Fort (a coworker that people always got me mixed up with).

I started applying for jobs yesterday. I already received one rejection. I'm over-educated and under-qualified. I spent all day online today and only applied to one job--and that one is far away. It is all very frustrating.

It smells funny outside. Like cows. And manure. Ew. I smelled it while driving on the freeway and in the parking lot of the grocery store. Strange.

Passover starts tonight. No bread or crackers for eight days. I'm also going to give up chips because I've been eating too many lately.

Passover 2008

So Saturday night we had seder at our house. I think it's the first time we've had seder at our house. As you can see in the photo Tim, Jason, Laura, and Lisa Diane and Joey came (Joey was taking the photo.) I made most of the food early Saturday, so we were able to start just after sundown and when it was time for the meal I just reheated everything. We had matzoh, matzoh ball soup, steamed baby carrots with mint, gefeltefish, charoset (2 kinds), boiled eggs, twice cooked Chinese 5 spice lamb, zabaglione, and lots of wine. Things went pretty smoothly. It was a good passover dinner. I managed not to eat too much. After dinner Bailey started kneading Lisa Diane's knitting and curled up on it.
On Sunday we had some sushi then did some shopping. I bought some capri pants that actually fit. I don't know how I fit into a size four, but I did (and I was all proud until a certain somebody burst my bubble and told me that those sizes run large....hahaha (I knew it was too good to be true.)) We also went to Bethany and got some drinks. I had a taro frappe. It was tasty. Around 8 pm the weekend really hit me and I started to feel exhausted. I slept in and I still feel tired. The house is pretty much cleaned up...it took me a whole hour to wash the dishes.
Oh yeah. There seems to be a consensus that the chocolate matzoh is better with the brown sugar. There are only 2 pieces left in the fridge. I'm going to have to get some more chocolate chips and make some more tonight! Oh, and its SUPER scrumptious with peanut butter on it.
