That Takes Me Back

On Sunday Julia decided she wanted to play with Play Doh. I opened up a container and the smell hit me. Smells really trigger memories for me and that smell took me back.

Of course when I had Play Doh I only had two colors--maybe three. Evelyn and Julia have lots of different colors. Now it even comes in silver and gold! I had to take a photo of the Cheeto-colored Play Doh. It was freaky.

I had fun being a kid and playing with the Doh. I even made some blue spaghetti. Oh, and a brown cow with black spots. Play Doh. Yay!

My Nose

I find it hard to believe I haven't written a post about my nose yet. Sometimes my nose is on. I feel like I can smell everything. This week my nose has been on. Ross hates it. I walk around wrinkling up my nose and sniffing the air (kind of like a dog). One morning this week the hospital smelled like the dog food factory. The bathroom closest to my office has odd smells. This week it smelled like an Italian restaurant. Luckily patients aren't normally transported on the elevator that I use. I can't stand getting on an elevator that smells like infection.

Yoga was icky yesterday. It smelled so bad in the room--like a wet sweaty shirt. I sprayed (nice) smelly stuff on my towel and kept sniffing it. The worst part of tubing for me was the smell while waiting for the bus.

I don't think much about my nose. Sometimes it is on, and sometimes it isn't. I don't know why, but it sure keeps things interesting.

What is That Smell?

Tired of scraping myself with the plastic dispenser I decided to buy new deodorant last weekend. I've always used just deodorant, not deodorant with antiperspirant. Sometimes it can be hard to find. I have tried antiperspirants, but after one or two uses I always break out with painful red zits in my armpits. Not fun.

So there I was, at Wally World, looking for deodorant. I like it to be scented. They didn't have the one I had just run out of. I finally found a honeysuckle and tea tree oil one made by Degree. Of course it was more expensive than any of the other deodorants.

All day Monday I kept thinking--what is that smell? It was my new deodorant. It is funny how a new smell just stands out like that. Also, it is interesting how quickly our brains learn to ignore it. By Tuesday afternoon I couldn't even smell it anymore.
