Uh, I'm Not Asleep

It is 4:41 and I've been up for at least two hours. I'm yawning, but I have a tummy ache and can't sleep. In a few hours I'll go teach my last yoga class.

We finally went and saw Coraline on Monday. We both liked it. I didn't think it was scary, but I'm desensitized, so who knows. It was odd--like all Neil Gaiman stuff.

Oh, and I finally got my sunglasses back. The bling fell out of them back in uh, November, maybe December--and I just got the replacement pair. Apparently they were back ordered and out of stock everywhere.

Yeah, and the high for today is supposed to be 80. 80! I'm definitely going to miss Texas weather--even the severe weather.

Ross has been painting the trim in the guest room, looks like that might be done tomorrow.

I guess that is enough updating, I will try to go back to bed now.

Moving

Well, right after I finish this post I need to get back to packing. The back room is all packed up, as is the guest room. Today Ross is going to work on painting the trim in the guest room. He painted the ceiling in there last night. I think the bulk of the packing is done. The moving units come tomorrow. We will have a couple days to fill them and they will take them away on Friday at some point.

Today I taught my last class at 24 Hour Fitness. I am really going to miss those folks. I took them oatmeal cookies, and they seemed to like that. Two more classes and I'm done. I'll go back to working out at home, and hopefully I'll be doing more yoga (lately I haven't been practicing at home at all).

We haven't found someone to rent out the house yet. The timing is a little off. TCU students don't want to start renting until June. Maybe that will give me some time to come back down here and fix up a few things...

On an unrelated note: Bailey is still purring like a real cat. In the mornings especially she purrs nonstop. I think she is finally realizing something is up, but she's having fun playing in the boxes and biting the plastic and bubble wrap that is strewn all over.

Time to get back to it...even though Bailey is trying to curl up in my lap.

Codriving

In high school I knew a set of twins who would drive together as a team. The one in the driver's seat did all the driving except actually shifting the gears. Her sister would sit in the passenger seat and shift with her left hand. She just knew when to shift, her sister didn't have to tell her. I was fascinated.

Today Ross was driving and I started shifting for him because he was eating ice cream. Codriving is fun. Shifting with my left hand isn't as natural, but I get the job done. If I get that Lexus SC 430 I'm really going to miss driving stick shift. Ah, but I think all the luxury amenities will make up for it.

The Good Thing About Moving

I don't think anyone really likes moving. I'm so used to packing and unpacking--it is just part of my life. The good thing about moving is that I get to go through everything--and get rid of a lot of things (I'm paranoid about become a hoarder--hoarding runs in my family). We sold a bunch of stuff at our garage sale. We donated the leftovers--and more. I have already started another box of things to donate.

We are moving from a three bedroom home to a two bedroom condo. Downsizing our stuff is a necessity--and we have LOTS of stuff. Getting rid of stuff makes me feel better. I feel like I'm not in such danger of becoming a hoarder. I feel like my house will be cleaner, and my life simpler. Sometimes I wish I could chuck it all, but I'm too attached to things. I know I wouldn't miss most of the things, but I can't seem to let them go. I have tons of paper (I love to buy cards, fancy paper, notebooks, any kind of paper), a fountain pen collection, shelves full of books, two closets full of clothes, many sets of glasses, a few set of dishes--the list goes on and on, but I am getting rid of things--it is the one good thing about moving.

My Baby Has Sauce

We had a great Valentine's day. We met Valerie and her family for lunch in Baltimore's inner harbor. Then we all headed to the B & O Railroad Museum. We saw some really cool stuff there. After the museum closed we headed up to Towson. We picked up some snacks at Trader Joe's and tried to walk off lunch at the mall.

When we were finally hungry we went for Thai food. Ross saw someone coming out of a spot about a block away from the restaurant. He turned on his blinker and waited. When the guy finally pulled out, a big Hummer monstrosity pulled around us and tried to back into the spot. Ross honked the horn and pulled forward to block the spot. Man, that guy had balls! But my Baby's got sauce. He got the parking spot. We were in a rental car, so I didn't care if the guy came back and keyed it. We got the spot!

Slacker!

Okay, so I've been a total slacker lately. Lazy about everything. I haven't been soaking or taping my piercing like I should. Last night I saw a small white dot on the side of a growing follicular cyst at the bottom of my piercing. I tried to drain it. I poked, prodded and squeezed. It bled a little. I cleaned it up and decided to tape down the piercing for the night. As I went to tape the top I suddenly saw the huge puddle of goo that had formed around the top gem. It actually grossed me out! I cleaned it, taped it, and went to bed. This morning I'm going to soak it and thoroughly clean it.

I've also been slacking on the diet and exercise front. One work out in the first week of the month, and then the only thing I did last week worth mentioning was hustling through the airport. I'm planning on working out at home at some point today. I did weights and measures this am and I'm thrilled and amazed that I haven't gained any weight in the last two weeks. Still, I need to get back with the program. I thought about going on a whole foods diet. Nothing but whole grains, fruits, veggies, and lean meats. Nothing processed, no added sugars. The problem is I know how expensive that would be. Still, I'm going to try and avoid sugars and C's for the next couple of weeks. I had a good start this am: fruit salad (bananas, blackberries, nectarines, grapes, apples, kiwi, and pears) with whey, vanilla, cinnamon and milk.

Now it is time to get to work. More posts about the weekend later.

Uh, It Just Kinda Happened

I cheated on Amy.  Well, at least I feel like I did.  We kept passing this place called Broom Bloom Dairy.  We kept laughing at the signs.  Small signs in the grass said ICE CREAM, BEEF LAMB, and PORK CHEESE.  After lunch today we stopped off to get a scoop of ice cream.  Ross got black cherry and I got cake batter.  That's right.  Cake batter flavored ice cream!  The very small sized cup wasn't small at all and it was served with a metal spoon!  One spoonful and I fell in love.  It tasted just like cake batter.  The black cherry was also superb.  I have a feeling we'll be going there more than we should.
