Kinky Boots!

After resting our tired feet in Times Square we walked to the Hirschfeld Theater to see Kinky Boots. I chose this show because Cyndi Lauper wrote the music and lyrics and it sounded like it might be funny. I was hoping it would be a show all three of us could enjoy.

Wow. Kinky Boots blew us all away. Everything about the show was outstanding. The music, the singing, the acting, the story, the costumes, the choreography, the dancing, the transitions, the set design, all of it.

At almost every show I go to I find myself watching what is going on in the wings or behind the scenes. Not this time. It was so engaging, and the transitions (with the set) were so seamless, I hardly noticed them.

I was surprised how much my dad liked the show. He even bought the cd afterward. We were all really sad that Ross wasn't there to enjoy the show with us. We sent him a post card. My parents said I chose well. We all loved the show.

Wild China

Last night I finished watching the series Wild China on Netflix instant watch. This six part series by the BBC explores different areas of China and how the people relate to nature. The images are breathtaking. I'm not sure which episode was my favorite, but the last one, Tides of Change, showed the Tulou of Fujian Province (pictured). Many tulou were built hundreds of years ago and are still standing. Ross and I were really impressed. The series showed China's many sites of natural beauty. It makes me wish I had months (and the money) to explore all the remote areas of China.

Hello, Veronica!

Veronica Mars has moved into our house. We are making our way through season one on Netflix instant watch. The show has some impressive writing. Not all the episodes are great, but I know we are both having fun watching it.

She's hot!

So, Alexis, who danced around and lip synched to Brittney Spears was the hottest girl at the show on Thursday night. The hostess was my favorite, but Brittney was hot, hot, hot!

Cirque du Soleil Mystere

My favorite thing that we did in Las Vegas was Cirque du Soleil Mystere. We were in the second row on the side and it was amazing. I just don't have words to describe it. I think it must be the best male review in town. I saw so many scantily clad guys. It was sexy and not at all creepy. The show had so many wonderful things I can't pick which is my favorite, but I really did enjoy the brothers pictured above. Pure muscle. Amazing strength, control, and balance. To see their act you can search YouTube for "cirque mystere" (and find other parts of the show also) or "Paulo Lorador". One of the characters was a red bird. At one point in the show she came right up in front of us and did a scorpion pose thing...resting her feet on her head. Spectacular! I'd go again and again and again. I loved it.
